What is the CDCP?
The Canadian Dental Care Plan (CDCP) is a federal program that helps eligible Canadians cover the cost of dental care. It's administered through Sun Life and covers a wide range of routine and restorative treatments. Hamilton Care Dental Centre is proud to accept CDCP for all eligible patients.
Who qualifies?
CDCP is available to Canadian residents without private dental insurance whose adjusted family net income is below the program threshold. Eligibility expanded in 2025 to include most adults under 65 in addition to seniors and children. You can confirm your eligibility on the Government of Canada CDCP page.
What does CDCP cover?
Covered services include exams, cleanings, X-rays, fillings, extractions, dentures, root canal, and many restorative treatments. Some treatments may require pre-authorization. We'll explain exactly what's covered before any treatment begins so there are no surprises.
How we make CDCP simple
We submit all claims directly to Sun Life on your behalf. There is no paperwork for you to fill out, and your co-pay (if any) is collected at the appointment. If you have questions about coverage, our treatment coordinators can walk you through it before you book.
